It’s Christmas Eve and most of us are cozied up to a fire someplace drinking eggnog, roasting chestnuts and watching It’s a Wonderful Life on television.
But I figured maybe there were a few hard core bloggers who instead are cruising online this evening, with nothing to do.
Below you’ll find a poll: Do you have a real or fake Christmas tree sitting in your living room (family room, kitchen, rec room, bedroom, bathroom, etc.)?
Growing up we always had a real Christmas tree, and it looked great and smelled great too. We had a lot of fun listen to my father cursing as he attempted to get the tree straight in the stand.
The downside of a real tree is you have to water it regularly so it doesn’t become a fire hazard, and prevent Fido from drinking the water. There’s also the issue of needles all over the floor.
After I was married, we decided on an artificial tree. It’s picture perfect, stands straight in its plastic stand, no cursing or watering needed. Nowadays artificials even come with their own lights, a feature my hubby was thrilled about. For the pleasure of no falling needles, you have to sacrifice the smell. But you can always spray it with pine-scented Glade. What’s a little phthalates between friends? (Oops. Maybe that’s why it took us so long to have kids.) Anyway, you can’t beat the convenience of artificial anything.
